WordPress’ latest structural change is to its text editor! According to WordPress, Gutenberg is the new tool to reform the post building and page creation experience.
When will my WordPress website have Gutenberg?
Although there is no exact date, Gutenberg is expected to appear in the WordPress Universe in 2018. As of now, Gutenberg comes as a plugin, you can already try it! However, it is expected for Gutenberg to be fully integrated with WordPress 5.0, which is scheduled to be released in 2018.
Nonetheless, Gutenberg might not be immediately compatible with all WordPress templates or plugins, so we recommend waiting for web developers or web design agency to work on templates and plugins to be compatible with this text editor.
Will I be able to open my WordPress website with Gutenberg in any browser?
According to WordPress, “Gutenberg will work in modern browsers, and Internet Explorer 11.”
What if I want to keep the text editor that I have now?
As long as WordPress 5.0 is not released and you don’t update, you can stay with the classic editor. And, eventually, once Gutenberg comes as the default in all WordPress’ templates, you will still be able to install the classic editor as a plugin.
