Shopify adds Plugin to WordPress
Shopify, the E-commerce solution for websites, has released a plugin for WordPress, which enables websites to add a shopping function to their website. The plugin is free of charge and places an “add product” button to the WordPress content management system.
On the WordPress company blog, product manager Daniel Patricio announced the Shopify E-commerce Plugin. “If you’ve been waiting for the right time to start selling on WordPress, the wait is over. Now, it’s easier than ever to add E-commerce to your WordPress website, and get all the features and security that comes with Shopify.”
Without even leaving WordPress the new plugin allows you to add products to any post, sidebar, or page. “Other WordPress E-commerce plugins want your whole website to be a store, but with the Shopify E-commerce plugin you can seamlessly integrate a WordPress shopping cart for even just one product. It’s perfect for WordPress site owners looking for a simple way to sell directly to their audience.”
The new Shopify plugin is intended for users who already have a business set up on WordPress and are only looking to sell a few products with a buy button, as opposed to a full-fledged store. It allows users to sell products that have already been added to their Shopify stores and requires a $9/month Shopify Lite subscription.
In addition to the new plugin Shopify has, along with Themezilla, Themify, and Ultralinx, created three free Shopify powered themes for WordPress. Each of these themes will let customers easily create pages to display their products.
